Symphony Administration

These instructions will help you become an Administrator after Symphony registration. 

1. Contact your SAM POC

Only the SAM (System for Award Management) Points of Contact (POC) are considered authorized users of an organization (See Figure 1). These are also the only users automatically assigned to the administrator role. entity navigation menu

Contact your SAM POC outside Symphony and request they use their administration link within Symphony to update your account.

2. Administrative Tasks

When your administrator registers and signs in to Symphony, they can activate your account and assign you to the Administrator role. These are the steps administrators must follow in the Administration link:

  1. Click on the row for the user you want to manage. 
  2. Change the user status from Initial to Active  (See Figure 2)
  3. Save User Status.
  4. Select the Administrator group checkbox (See Figure 2).
  5. Save Group Membership.

  • When additional users are assigned to the Administrator group, they will also have the ability to activate registered users. 

  • You can have as many users in Symphony as you need; they can all work in Symphony if their accounts are active.

3. How to Manage Users

Updates to users are instant and administrators should be aware of the following restrictions.

  1. Your SAM POC/administrator cannot see you/a user if the website for the contract vehicle is incorrect. 
    • The websites must match.
  2. Your SAM POC/administrator cannot see you/a user if registration was for a different company (UEI and Cage). 
    • The Company UEI and Cage must match. 
  3. Symphony cannot be accessed on behalf of multiple companies without a unique email address for each registered UEI. 
    • Users can only be registered with one company at a time under one email address. 
  4. You cannot update the SAM POC(s) after registering and gain immediate access. 
  5. You cannot invite others from within Symphony because all users must self-register for the prime company, verify their registered email address, and set up their preferred method of Multi-factor Authentication. 
    • Please ask additional users to register outside the system.
  6. You cannot register with group email accounts because the MFA code can only be tied to one person.
    • Users must register their individual accounts.
    • Each user will have the same access to your company's information. 
    • A Symphony administrator does not relay the MFA because each user will receive their code upon login. 
  7. You cannot assign a user to a group to activate their account. 
    • Group permissions are only effective for active users.
  8. You cannot delete a user's account so that they can register again. 
    • We can move an account or revoke a registration if you contact us
  9. All users should register for the company submitting a proposal or that holds the Symphony-managed contract. 
    • Users cannot register for JV members or subcontractors and share their information with another company. (See How Team Members Work).
  10. You cannot add users to Symphony on their behalf or assign positions to users who have not completed their registration for Symphony.
