This article covers configuring an authentication app during or after registration.


Registering with an Authenticator App 

To successfully register in Symphony using a Multi-factor Authentication smartphone app, follow the video or the step-by-step instructions below.

1. Download an App

Download an Authenticator App from iTunes or Google Play on a smartphone. 

Google Authenticator is recommended (see Figure 1). It is free, easy to use, and supports multiple accounts. 


2. Set Up the App

After installing the app:

  1. Open the app
     
  2. Choose Scan QR code
     
  3. Scan the QR code when registering
     
  4. Verify the account name
     
  5. Enter the code when prompted
     
  6. Click Authenticate

Each Symphony account will generate a unique code. For users with multiple Symphony accounts, it is advised to rename the codes for easier identification.



Scanning a QR Code After Registration

Users who are signed in can use the Profile Icon to scan the QR code in the Credentials screen.

  • If sign-in is not possible, Contact us for a QR code (see Figure 2).

A QR code requires an Authenticator App from iTunes or Google Play on a mobile phone.

Google Authenticator is recommended. 
It is free, easy to use, and supports multiple accounts.

 

Once the app is installed, follow these steps:

  1. Open the app
  2. Choose scan QR code 
  3. Scan the QR code we provide upon request
  4. Verify the account name
  5. Go to the correct Symphony website
  6. Enter the credentials
  7. Click Sign In
  8. Return to the MFA app on the mobile phone
  9. Enter the code from the matching account
  10. Click Authenticate

Users with multiple Symphony accounts should rename the codes in the app to reflect the use of the One-Time Passcode (OTP). Each Symphony website requires a unique code for access.
